The Trust has been working closely with staff to ensure that any impact to patients of industrial action by doctors on Thursday 21 June 2012 is kept to a minimum and that patients will continue to receive good quality, safe care and treatment. The proposed industrial action by doctors follows a national ballot of its members by the British Medical Association last month. Their dispute is with the government, not the Trust. We are not clear at this stage exactly what the impacts may be but we are working with staff to minimise disruption to patients and the situation is being closely monitored.

Despite the proposed industrial action, medical staff will be attending work as usual on the day. They will be able to respond to all patients who need urgent or emergency treatment. Most of the clinical input provided to patients will continue unaffected without postponement.
