Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust is continuing to hold online board meetings that can be attended by the public via a digital link.

David Walker, Chair of the Trust, has made this short video to explain some of the key topics discussed at the May 25 meeting.

The Board welcomed councillor Liz Lefman, leader of Oxfordshire County Council, to the meeting.

“[We] talked about further co-operation between the Trust and the local government, trying together to prevent people falling sick and needing medical interventions; improving services for children and young people and making joint efforts to recruit and retain staff in a county facing high cost pressures.”

David continues:

“Another theme common to the two organisations is the path to net zero. We are examining the journeys our staff make, the energy efficiency of our buildings and greening of our sites under our commitment to cut carbon emissions.”

David finishes on the Board discussion on the Ockenden report:

“Recently Dame Donna Ockenden reported on midwifery at the Shrewsbury and Telford Trust, and we went through the lessons for us, especially communications between doctors and nurses and coping with staff shortages, a persisting problem for us especially in our mental health services.”
