The Warneford hospital is the oldest in-patient unit in use across the NHS, and no longer meets the needs of a modern mental health hospital. We have ambitious plans to replace it with:
- A new mental health hospital, offering the best treatment, care, and therapeutic environment.
- A modern scientific facility for the world-leading brain research taking place at the University of Oxford, with additional space for biotech, pharmaceutical and start-up companies.
- A new post-graduate college for the University of Oxford focused on medical sciences, bio-engineering and related disciplines.
The consultation
We are at the pre-planning phase and our consultation aims to gather valuable insights and feedback, on the proposed redevelopment of the Warneford Hospital site.
This is an important part of our application process to invite participation from local stakeholders, community representatives, businesses, service providers, staff, patients and agencies with an interest in the future of this hospital and its surrounding site.
We would like to work together with you, to explore relevant issues and guiding principles for the redevelopment.
Exhibition sessions
A team led by Eric Parry Architects has been appointed to take forward and create a master plan for this site. We are keen to work with you at this early stage to help identify key issues and explore appropriate solutions in a collaborative way.
We have arranged a series of drop-in exhibition sessions which will provide an opportunity to:
- Explore informative displays and visual material which will provide background context and considerations for future development
- Meet members of the project team and engage in discussions with subject matter specialists
- Share your thoughts, concerns and ideas for the future of Warneford Park
