A community hospital ward is Oxford Health’s high achiever this week for independent reviews.

Well Done Wednesday: it’s all about City Community Hospital Ward

This Wednesday we are congratulating the Community Hospital Ward at The Fulbrook Centre for some amazing five star I Want Great Care reviews.

The ward offers support to older people who no longer require the support of an acute hospital but often still need additional care before returning home. Staff work closely with social services to source care placements and liaise with other care agencies.

Christine Hayden the ward manager who came into this role in June is ‘passionate’ about the team and she said, “The team work hard and I want to continue to strengthen a culture and environment which engage staff to continue to offer kindness, supportive and excellent care to patients.”

The team is made up of registered nurses, a therapy team, support workers, administrators, a health and wellbeing coordinator and a domestic team. The team have worked hard during this challenging time especially with all the added difficulties of donning and doffing PPE but their hard work is definitely being recognised by the patients.

One patient said, “All the staff have been exceptionally helpful and friendly, very professional and I had a great experience.” Even the visitors have been praising the team for receiving a “great welcome” and being taken “swiftly” to the inpatient and “a welcoming admin” team.

It sounds like the team are striving to continue to provide excellent care and really make the difference to their patient’s experience. To find out more about the service click here.
