Teams in Community Services across Oxfordshire, in both District Nursing and Community Hospitals, will be amongst the first to use a new and innovative tool aimed at identifying the potential level of harm that patients can be exposed to in our services.

The NHS Safety Thermometer allows teams to measure the proportion of patients that are “harm free” during the working day and provides a “temperature check” on harm that can be used alongside other measures of harm to assess progress.

The first of these Safety Thermometer audits will take place on 10 July and teams have already received training in how to use the tool.

Teams in adult mental health will implement the Safety Thermometer in the coming months.
