Witney Community Hospital teams up with local choir for concert

Witney Community Hospital’s programme to enhance the experience of people in hospital has paired up with the community pop choir Cotswold Voices, for a concert in Witney on 11 May 2018.

Cotswold Voices repertoire includes original choral arrangement of songs such Man in the Mirror, The Sound of Silence, and With or Without You, along with ELO’s hits.

The concert, which will be held at the High Street Methodist Church in Witney at 7.30 on 11 May 2018, will raise funds for ‘Creating with Care’, a programme of regular creative interventions in hospitals to enhance the experience of patients, as well as the people who care with them.

West Oxfordshire District Council developed the ‘Creating with Care’ programme to help people, particularly those in vulnerable groups, have better access to health and wellbeing services and activities.

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust staff members have been working to support the programme, and staff have helped organise a vintage cabaret garden party, taken part in a flash mob, and are about to produce a books of poems and stories written by patients at the Witney Community Hospital.

Angela Conlan, the Creating with Care Arts coordinator at Witney community Hospital, said: “We’re really looking forward to the concert: a personal highlight the last time I heard Cotswold Voices was their rendition of Pharell William’s Happy.

We hope that lots of local people will come to enjoy music and contribute to a programme that makes a real difference to the lives of our patients and their families.”

Jo Moore, Choir Master for Cotswold Voices said ‘The Cotswold Voices are proud and honoured to be part of an event which can promote and help to fund an arts scheme which will benefit the wellbeing of patients; care goes beyond physical and with this scheme, people’s lives and healing can be enhanced.

Performing to help the local community is an important part of what the Cotswold Voices stands for – we are looking forward to singing!’
