The Bucks Perinatal team, who have clinics in High Wycombe and Aylesbury, has been recognised for their fantastic work in a series of independent five-star I Want Great Care reviews.
Oxford Health’s specialist Perinatal Mental Health Services in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire provide assessment and treatment to women with complex mental health problems, during and after pregnancy.
The team offers care to women in their own homes wherever possible, enabling them to maintain their roles as mothers while being treated.
Lisa Sutton, Perinatal Care Co-ordinator, said: “Mental health difficulties occur in approximately one in four women during the perinatal period, this can be from pregnancy up to one-year post birth. I am very proud of the team who work extremely hard to better the lives of women and their families during difficult times.
“If you have any concerns regarding your mental health, please speak with your GP, midwife or health visitor.”
All patients and service users who receive care and support from Oxford Health are encouraged to provide reviews on the independent I Want Great Care website. The Trust welcomes reviews as they help our teams learn where the quality and standards of care can be improved as well as letting us know where our teams are providing good care.
One service user said: “Staff gave me fantastic support with feeding – a better service out in the community than we experienced in the hospital! Our Practitioner ran between the labour ward and NICU, supporting myself, my husband and my baby. She is kind, compassionate and so knowledgeable about baby care and mental health. What a gem. We are so lucky to have her work with us and will never forget her.”
Another patient said: “I have had a very good service from my care co-ordinator. She has taught me lots of strategies to manage my anxiety as well as helped me so much with feeding my baby and general baby issues. So kind and professional, very grateful for all the help I have received and would not be where I am today without her.”
