World Patient Safety Day: Message from Britta Klinck

"Today, on this Patient Safety Day, ask yourself, if your patients were safe today, what made them so? What did you do to make them safe? And how can you do more of that?"

World Patient Safety Day: Message from Britta Klinck

To mark the World Patient Safety Day, September 17, Deputy Chief Nurse Britta Klinck has prepared this short video to consider aspects of keeping patients safe.

“Keeping patients safe is the highest priority for all of us working at heath services. Regardless of where you work or which services you provide, it is always the number 1 priority,” Britta says.

“Today, on the Patient Safety Day, it is really worth considering how we keep patients safe. Providing safe services is really a way of being that requires us to be constantly seeking to learn more, to challenge ourselves, to improve what we do in line with how the world is changing.

“Learning from incidents is a massive part of that. Learning from when things don’t go well is very, very valuable. But so is learning from when things do go well.

“Today, on this Patient Safety Day, ask yourself, if your patients were safe today, what made them so? What did you do to make them safe? And how can you do more of that?”
