The Diversity in Research Group aims to make health research more inclusive so that it best serves all society.
They are looking for new members who are:
- Connected to a voluntary or community organisation in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire or West Berkshire or a local national health charity
- Interested in health and health research
- Possibly having personal experience of a physical or mental health – this is not essential
- Willing to learn about patient or public involvement in health research
- Flexible and friendly when working with others
- Willing to undertake training
- Interested in equality, diversity and inclusion and willing to learn
- Living or working in the Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire or West Berkshire areas
New members are particularly being sought from communities who do not usually have the opportunity to be involved in health research including:
- People with disabilities or long-term health conditions
- are from Black, African, Asian and Caribbean communities
- LGBT+ communities
- from low socio-economic backgrounds
- people who are refugees, carers or younger adults (18-30 years old).
No previous experience is required, but a willingness to get involved, learn and have an open mind is preferred.
Member benefits include:
- Training and development opportunities
- Attendance in at least 6 meetings a year (approx. 3 online and 3 in person )
- £25 per hour + expenses
The role is initially for 1 year with the option to extend. Induction takes place in Autumn 2024 and the role starts in January 2025.
