This provides downloadable leaflets about a range of mental health conditions and the types of medication prescribed.

Oxfordshire CAMHS

In Oxfordshire they provide a wide range of mental health support for children, young people and community services. If you need their support, you can request help via their self-referral form which you can access on their website or you can call in on 01865 902 515.

Complex Needs Service

A specialist services for people who have long-term emotional difficulties, trouble coping, or mental health difficulties sometimes described as a ‘personality disorder’ or ‘complex needs’.

The Listening Centre

The Listening Centre provides low-cost counselling to people who are otherwise unable to afford it. The cost of counselling sessions is dependent on an individual’s financial circumstances. The appropriate rate will be negotiated at the initial meeting.

Oxford Men’s Counselling Service

This service provides private counselling for men allowing them the opportunity to explore relevant issues, such as fatherhood, relationships, loss, anger and depression. The cost of counselling sessions is dependent on an individual’s financial circumstances. The appropriate rate will be negotiated at the initial meeting.

Oxford Women’s Counselling Centre

A professional counselling service where female counsellors, allow women to explore the pattern of their lives, and consider alternative perspectives and ways of thinking. The cost of counselling sessions is dependent on an individual’s financial circumstances. The appropriate rate will be negotiated at the initial meeting.

Relate

A relationship support service. Including relationship counselling for individuals and couples, family counselling, mediation, children and young people’s counselling and sex therapy. It provides friendly and informal workshops for people at important stages in their relationships.

Cruse Bereavement Care

One-to-One sessions with a Bereavement Support face-to-face or by telephone. Friendship groups also offered. These are social groups are designed for those people who have moved on a stage in their grieving and would like to be in the company of others who understand their situation.

The Oxfordshire Mind Information Line provides information and signposting for people living in Oxfordshire looking for support with their mental health, carers, friends, family members and professionals. The service is confidential and free. Open Monday to Thursday, 9:30am to 4:30pm, Friday 9:30am to 4:00pm closed bank holidays.

AgeUK Oxfordshire
Provide services and vital support to people in later life. With local partners they deliver a range of services across the UK. For example, befriending, home support, community clubs and information and advice.

Asylum Welcome

Support for asylum seekers, refugees and detainees who have fled persecution and danger in their own countries and seek refuge in Oxford and Oxfordshire.

Autism Oxford

They offer information and guidance relating to the realities of life on the autism spectrum and support the development of autism services, especially those provided by Autistic professionals. They provide bespoke training sessions and events.

LGBT+ Oxfordshire

Oxford Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre

An organisation committed to supporting survivors of sexual abuse, rape, domestic abuse, and harassment. They offer a free and confidential service to women and girls who are dealing with the effects of sexual violence, and to anyone who is supporting them.

Oxford Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma (OxCADAT)

A specialist Oxford University based service aims to improve the understanding and treatment of anxiety disorders. They currently focus on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia).

Reducing the risk

This service is dedicated to the safety of adults and children at risk of domestic abuse. The charity develops and delivers services for those affected by domestic abuse in Oxfordshire and provides training across the UK. Their Domestic Abuse Helpline provides support and practical information for adults affected by domestic abuse. The helpline can help with enquiries and provide access to support services.

Turning Point Oxfordshire

Is dedicated to promoting wellbeing and recovery from addiction when you feel ready to take those steps. Oxfordshire services offer a variety of treatment options and we will support you to find the right treatment for you to make positive changes.

Nationwide services

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM)

This is leading a movement against male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. They run a free and confidential helpline and webchat – 7 hours a day, 7 days a week for anyone who needs to talk about life’s problems. They also support those bereaved by suicide, through the Support After Suicide Partnership (SASP).

The Compassionate Friends

Offer a variety of different types of support to parents, grandparents and siblings after the death of a child.

FRANK

This service offers friendly, confidential advice about drugs; it can help you find out everything you might want to know about drugs.

The Freedom Project (domestic abuse)

The programme is designed for victims of domestic violence, examining attitudes and beliefs on the actions of abuser and the responses of victims and survivors. The aim is to help them to make sense of understand what has happened to them.

Gamcare

Is a provider of information, advice, support and free counselling for the prevention and treatment of problem gambling. They offer a National Gambling Helpline, provide treatment for problem gamblers and their families, create awareness about responsible gambling and treatment, and encourage an effective approach to responsible gambling within the gambling industry.

Help is at Hand

If you, or someone you know has been bereaved by suicide, Help is at Hand is a guide which offers practical and emotional information and support. It has been developed by people who have lost people to suicide, with support from experts at Public Health England and the National Suicide Prevention Alliance.

LGBT Foundation

LGBT Foundation is a national charity delivering advice, support and information services to lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) communities.

Samaritans

Rethink Mental Illness

They provide expert, accredited advice and information to everyone affected by mental health problems. They support people every year across England to get through crises, to live independently and to realise they are not alone.

The Silver Line

Is a free confidential helpline providing information, friendship and advice to older people, open 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Online support forum for mental health and wellbeing issues ranging from anxiety, depression, stress and trauma, to relationship problems and lifestyle challenges.

Carers Oxfordshire

The Carers Oxfordshire service aims to make it easier for carers, whatever their situation, to access information and support. The service has four elements: a telephone and web-based information service, an outreach support service, a network of peer support groups and training and wellbeing opportunities.

MINDs – Elefriends

An online community where individuals struggling with mental health difficulties can find a safe place to listen, share and be heard.

Tandem

Tandem offers one-to-one support and friendship to people with mental health problems living in the community in Oxford. They do this through the ‘befriending partnership’; two people: a volunteer, who is a befriender, and a befriendee who is an individual using the service.
