Please find here an online NHS Talking Therapies course which supports GPs and other primary care practitioners in caring for people with common mental health problems. It consists of approximately 2 hours of e-learning activities and formative self-assessments to facilitate learning and reflection. Links to resources and further reading/activities are also provided.

The course was developed in partnership with the NHS Talking Therapies National Primary Care Programme and the RCGP and is provided free of charge.

Free training for primary care professionals

FREE training for Primary Care Professionals in Oxfordshire to enhance consultations with patients with anxiety and depression.

The PPiPCare programme is aimed at all Primary Care professionals across the South-Central region, including GPs, Practice Nurses, Health Visitors, District Nurses, etc. It is delivered by clinicians from NHS Oxfordshire Talking Therapies at your practice or meeting area with sessions typically lasting around 60 minutes depending on the time you have available. The training sessions can form part of your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) – a certificate of attendance will be provided.

The programme consists of 5 modules, selected by a group of GPs and written by leading experts in the relevant field. The modules are stand-alone and therefore you can choose to have one or more delivered. Each module will cover relevant evidence-based techniques, as well as guidance on how these techniques can be integrated within routine clinical practice within the primary care setting.

1. Using Behavioural Activation techniques in Primary Care.

2. Using Guided Self Help in Primary Care.

3. Using Motivational Interviewing techniques in Primary Care.

4. Using Problem Solving techniques in Primary Care.

5. Detecting Anxiety and Depression in Primary Care.

Training - Basic CBT Skills

PPiPcare and 10 min CBT for health care professionals wishing to learn basic CBT skills working to use with patients with long term physical health conditions and persistent physical symptoms.

Clinical supervision in small groups for e.g. Cardiac nurses

Clinical skills supervision in small groups for health care professional seeing patients with cardiac, diabetes and or respiratory conditions and multiple long term conditions. Could be professional groups such as cardiac rehabilitation nurses, pulmonary rehabilitation physiotherapists, practice nurses etc or multi-professional primary care teams.

Identifying patients who have a Long Term Health Condition (LTC) with anxiety and/or depression
Training for healthcare professionals in identifying anxiety and/or depression for patients with long term physical health problems eg practice nurses, specialist nurses, diabetes dieticians etc.
