Each study needs to follow the below process before it can be opened at OHFT:
- Expression of Interest – please complete this form – STUDY registration form and send it along with your document pack (minimum required documents: protocol, IRAS from, HRA approval) to research@oxfordhealth.nhs.uk.
- The study will be discussed internally within the R&D to assess its feasibility. If we have additional questions we will be in touch with you. At the rare occasion the study may be deemed as not feasible at OHFT. This will be discussed with you along with any potential changes that would need to take place before the study could be reassessed.
- If the study is deemed feasible you may be asked to present your study to the pipeline group. This is relevant to the clinical trials only. If your study is not a clinical trial the governance team will start the R&D assessment.
The pipeline meeting is an opportunity to meet R&D teams that will work on the study set-up at OHFT. Please prepare any questions you may have for us. This meeting is attended by the R&D Director, Head of R&D, and members of the Research Delivery, Finance, Pharmacy, Research Informatics and Research Governance Teams. There will be a chance for these individuals to ask questions at the end of your presentation.
Following the meeting the pipeline group will discuss your study. There could be 3 outcomes of the meeting:
– study accepted by the pipeline group. The governance team will start the R&D assessment.
– study acceptance pending. If an important issue needs to be resolved before the R&D assessment can be started. You will be informed of the issue and the relevant R&D team/s will discuss it with you and help to resolve it so the study can move to the R&D assessment.
– study is rejected by the pipeline group. This will be discussed with you along with any potential changes that would need to take place before the study could be reassessed.
- R&D assessment – During this process you will be asked to provide additional information and documents. This process also includes costings, review of contracts etc. The R&D assessment email will list all outstanding items and individuals that will be working on each of the elements. Please note we are currently working on a guide for PIs to help them understand our procedures.
- Once the R&D assessment is successfully completed the study opens at OHFT.
