Tuberculosis nursing team

Our tuberculosis (TB) nursing team provides tuberculosis care, assessment, advice and support to patients, staff, local GPs, local prisons, homeless shelters and the general public.

This includes:

  • investigations such as Mantoux testing, CXR, blood tests, and microbiology specimens
  • monitoring of patients while they are on their anti-tuberculosis therapy
  • directly observed therapy (DOTS)
  • screening of close contacts of TB, and people who come from places that have a high rate of TB
  • a named nurse to support and help patients cope with the diagnosis of TB
  • completion of mandatory TB notification
  • educational talks
