Boboye Olisawo

Senior Support Worker / Liaison Officer

How I started

My journey with the trust began over five years ago, starting as bank staff before securing a permanent position on the Wintle Ward.

Having had the opportunity to work across various wards, including acute, forensic, and eating disorder units, I’ve always harboured a desire to broaden my professional horizon. OHFT has encouraged personal and professional development, allowing me to partake in numerous trainings and courses relevant to my current role.

This ethos of growth and development within the trust motivated me to seize the opportunity, which led me to my current position.

My role

I work as a Senior Support Worker / Liaison Officer based at Great Western Hospital and Swindon CAMHS.  My role encompasses a variety of challenging yet fulfilling tasks.

Each day presents unique cases, demanding a dynamic problem-solving and case-management approach. One of my responsibilities is to coordinate Discharge Planning Meetings. This involves:

  • Comprehensive preparation for each case, including gathering essential demographic information and consent for sharing.
  • Updating the deputy manager daily on all individuals fit for assessment at the hospital.
  • Promptly responding to requests from the hospital, ensuring liaison clinicians are informed about the young person’s situation.
  • Ensuring clinical records are kept up to date.
  • Engaging with local CAMHS teams, especially for out-of-area young individuals, to ensure a cohesive follow-up and care plan post-assessment.

A rewarding job

The diversity of tasks and the opportunity to work with a dedicated team are what I find most rewarding about my role.

Despite being a small group, we are committed to embodying OHFT’s core values in every facet of our service delivery.

The unpredictability of each day, coupled with the complex assessment processes, keep me engaged and motivated.

A dedicated team

Our team’s dedication to excellence and the supportive environment at Swindon CAMHS have been pivotal in enhancing my professional growth.

Transitioning from a ward setting to managing caseloads with a focus on using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) has been a significant learning curve.

This role has allowed me to appreciate the nuances of flexibility and diversity in care, highlighting the importance of adaptability in our field.

Flexible arrangements

Recognising the balance between professional responsibilities and personal life, Swindon CAMHS has supported me in finding a working arrangement that suits my needs as a parent.

This flexibility has been instrumental in allowing me to perform optimally in both my personal and professional life.
