Physical activity initiatives to support good mental health

Physical activity initiatives to support good mental health

Could physical activity help you alleviate symptoms of common mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety?

Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK experience a mental health problem each year but there is growing evidence that physical activity can alleviate symptoms of common mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety.

Here at Buckinghamshire Talking Therapies, we recognise the impact that physical activity can have on our mental health and wellbeing.

We have been working closely with Sport England to explore several initiatives that support patients to consider ways that they can incorporate more physical activity within their lifestyles.

We have been able to blend these within some of our current treatment options as well as offer some to be completed alongside treatments. Not only that, but we have been able to develop this further whilst taking into consideration recently updated NICE guidance.

We are working with a community based charity to provide a fantastic opportunity to get outside in nature and walk with Alpaca’s.

For more information on the services we provide within Buckinghamshire Talking Therapies and our focus on physical Activity, please see our physical activity resources and services page.
