Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to announce that the
Contraceptive and Sexual Health (c&sh) Service has been awarded a ‘You’re
Welcome’ standard by the Department of Health (DH).

The Oxfordshire Contraception and Sexual Health (c&sh) service is provided
from nine sites across Oxfordshire. On average the service sees 22,000
people per year and over 2,200 of these are young people (under 18). The
clinics offer services such as contraceptive advice, contraceptive supplies and
advice around sensitive issues such as pregnancy and Chlamydia screening.
The You’re Welcome criteria have been endorsed by the Royal College of
Nursing (RCN), the National Youth Agency and Brook. The quality criteria
cover nine areas including: accessibility; publicity; environment; staff training;
joined-up working; involvement of young people; health issues for adolescents
and confidentiality and consent.

Lucia Winrow, Service Manager for the c&sh service said “The c&sh service is
available to all Oxfordshire residents, however we do a huge amount of work
to engage with young people. Achieving this standard and being recognised
by the Department of Health means we are providing services that are young
people friendly, accessible and of high quality. I am very proud of the Team
and their commitment and hard work to achieve the You’re Welcome
Standards”

As well as ensuring the local service delivery is appropriate for young people,
the Trust has worked closely with NHS Oxfordshire and the local media to
broaden the engagement of young people. As part of a recent campaign with
Glide FM we interviewed young people about their views on contraception
and sexually transmitted infections. The interviews were aired on local radio
and can now be found on NHS Oxfordshire’s website.

The Trust is committed to engaging with young people and families and works
closely with patients and the public to ensure service delivery is appropriate
and accessible.
