The team works tirelessly to design and deliver impactful learning experiences that empower staff and support the growth of our organisation. Whether through innovative training programmes, responsive development pathways, or fostering a culture of continuous learning, the team has remained committed to making a meaningful difference.
Accepting the July Exceptional People Team Award Head of Learning and Development Rebecca Elsworth said:
“We are absolutely delighted and honoured to receive the Exceptional Team Award for Learning and Development. This recognition is a testament to the dedication, creativity and collaborative spirit of every member of our team.
“This award is not just a celebration of our achievements – it’s a reflection of the trust and support we’ve received from our wider community. We’re grateful to our colleagues, leaders and partners who have championed our work and helped us grow.
“Thank you for this incredible recognition. We’re excited to continue building on this momentum and shaping the future of learning together.”
The nomination
The Learning and Development Team was nominated by Personal Assistant to the Head of L&D and the L&D Senior Leadership Team Ruth Grant for their leadership in healthcare research and education, making the best use of their resources, protecting the environment and delivering the best possible care and health outcomes for the Trust.
Ruth commented:
“Learning and Development is key to outstanding care. Ensuring the team is up to date on training and are learning and evolving, gaining more knowledge and skills, makes it possible for the Trust to maintain its high level of care.
“We are a very safe and close department. Head of Learning and Development, Becky Elsworth, was recently a finalist in the Trust Staff Awards in the Safe category and wellbeing is a high priority for Becky and her senior leadership team, including team leaders and peers. We are supportive and compassionate towards each other and without doubt feel valued by our leadership team.”
Ruth goes on to say:
“I have had many jobs throughout my career and this is by far the best department I have ever worked for. Recent new joiners often say the same! We are a happy, motivated and kind team who feel heard and appreciated. A common sound within our department is laugher, whatever the weather. We continuously look to improve education offers for staff within the Trust to include Estates and Facilities apprenticeship, data apprenticeship, podiatry apprenticeship and much more.
“Each new opportunity for a member of staff requires not only teaching, but lots of administration per student.
“Like all of us in the Trust, we continue to deliver high standards despite the ongoing increase in workload and limited resources. Our goal is to ensure all staff get what they need to grow and continue to deliver high quality care and continue to stay employed within the Trust. We have two staff doing a Simulation Fellowship and one staff member on the Chief Nurse Fellowship for BAME nurses, who we are so proud of. Because we are not clinical and work quietly in the background, we often get forgotten.”
