Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (OBMH) is opening a specialist eating disorders service in Marlborough, Wiltshire.

An open event for potential new staff will be held on Thursday 15th May between 17:00 and 19:00 at Savernake Hospital, Marlborough, where the new unit will be based.

There will be a series of short presentations throughout the event and staff from the Trust will be on hand to answer questions about the new unit. Human Resources staff will also be able to guide staff through the application process and answer questions about the many benefits available for NHS staff.

Louise Tohill, Unit Manager, OBMH, said, “There are many exciting opportunities for local people at the new unit which is why we have decided to run this open event for potential new staff. We are looking for enthusiastic people who can join us in making this new unit a real success.”

If you would like more information about the opportunities or would like to attend the open event please contact Vicky Norman on 01865 226628.

The unit will be based on the successful Cotswold House, Oxford model and will offer specialist services for people with severe eating disorders in a 12-bed unit as well as outpatient and day patient services. This is in response to the continual high need for specialist treatments in the south of England for this serious disorder which affects many people.

The services will be offered to adults with severe eating disorders who would benefit from specialist treatment. The service will provide evidence based treatments including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), support for families and a therapeutic group programme.

OBMH will be working on site over the coming months to prepare the building for the new service which is planned to open in late autumn 2008
