Elections for Staff Governors to serve on the Trust’s Members’ Council from 2 April 2012 will take place shortly.

Staff who work in the Trust’s Mental Health Division you are eligible to nominate themselves to stand for election. If you are unsure as to which Constituency or class you are in please contact the Trust Secretary on 01865 782180 or justinian.habner@oxfordhealth.nhs.uk who will be able to advise you.

The term of office will be three years. 

 The Members’ Council is an integral part of our NHS Foundation Trust.  During the past year, it has been involved in the appointment of a new Non-Executive Director and re-appointments of serving Non-Executive Directors, the appointment of the Trust’s auditors, and reviewing proposed amendments to the Trust Constitution.  Governors have also had the opportunity to participate in a range of activities including reviewing the Trust’s performance against surveys and advising on the development of action plans, advising on the Trust’s estate developments, and commenting on the Board of Directors’ plans.

How do I nominate?

If you would like to stand for election, you need to contact Electoral Reform Services (ERS), who are conducting the election on our behalf.  ERS will be able to provide you with a nomination form and information on how to fill out the form.  Please note, you do not need to be nominated by anyone else.  You can nominate yourself.

The closing date for submission of the nomination form to ERS is noon on Tuesday, 21 February 2012. Guidance for completing the nomination form is set out clearly on the form itself. The nomination form should be returned directly to ERS and not to the Trust.

Next steps

The next stage of the process will be the election itself.  Once all the candidates are known, ballot papers will be drawn up and issued to Members on 12 March 2012.  The closing date for the election will be 30 March 2012.  Details about how the voting system will operate will be sent out with the ballot papers.
