Their aim is to ensure PSWs are happy and supported – always on hand to help and make a real difference to their experience and the teams they work in.

Senior Peer Support Coordinator Charlotte Proud said:

“We are very proud, pleased and humbled to have won this month’s Exceptional People Team Award. To know that staff in the Trust feel our work is worthy of recognition inspires us to keep working hard to promote all the benefits that Peer Support Workers can bring to patients, teams, the Trust and for themselves. Thank you.”

The nomination

The Peer Support Co-ordination Team was nominated by their colleague Peer Support Worker Rebecca Simpson – for their positivity, personable approach and encouragement.

Rebecca commented:

“A small team in size with a massive positive impact upon the staff they support. They are a knowledgeable, compassionate, hardworking, engaging and enthusiastic team who promote and support the invaluable contributions of those with lived experience at Oxford Health. They train, support, advise and co-ordinate, to empower the ever-growing team of PSWs, in line with the Trust’s values.

“The team have great interest in the peer team and know the individuals they work with well enough to promote the individual peers passions, hopes and visions. They provide invaluable weekly supervisions and take the time to personally highlight opportunities tailored to the individual.

“They offer a bespoke, interesting and tailored training program for new starters, that is relevant, interesting, educational and never boring.

“They are an approachable, open, honest and supportive team with a passion for what they do and fully deserve their hard work, efforts and contribution towards promoting and upholding lived experience at Oxford Health to be recognised.”
