Clinical Lead at Witney Emergency Multi-Disciplinary Assessment Unit (EMU) Tendai Mugariri wins the award for her devotion and positivity.

The nomination

Tendai was nominated by Witney EMU Nurse Claire Dyer.

Claire commented:

“Tendai is an exceptional Clinical Lead with highly advanced clinical knowledge and skills. She uses this knowledge and skill to maximum effect by providing medical level cover on most weekends when our team do not have a doctor working with us. This allows for our service to continue, albeit at a reduced capacity, when it would otherwise not be able to.

“Tendai uses her clinical knowledge and skill to support our medical colleagues during a time of significant change, she is helping to induct new doctors into the service. This is helping to support the wider service whilst at the same time maintaining safety for patients and colleagues on our unit.

“Her knowledge of how the EMU service fits with the wider pathway is second to none. She is skilled at being able to advise and guide on how we can best support our patient population and colleagues right across the Intensive Community Care pathway. With the support of colleagues, Tendai tenaciously uses this knowledge to try to influence the continual development of the service, and despite challenges has been successful in having the voice of the patients and that of her colleagues heard.

“Tendai has looking after patients firmly at the centre of everything she does. At the same time, Tendai is very mindful of looking after her team, providing support, training, understanding and encouragement for them. She has been successful in securing funding to see a good number of her colleagues benefit from extended training and educational courses, to support the work of our unit.

“We would also like to congratulate Tendai on recently completing a Master of Science degree in Advanced Clinical Practice securing a distinction.”
