Strategies

Amplify your strengths

  • Find jobs or tasks that work for you and your skills.
  • This gives you a chance to amplify your output by using your strengths.

Ask for help

  • Tell people if you struggle with certain tasks and ask for help.
  • These could be things like remembering an appointment, filling in forms, or being on time.
  • Punishment or reward tend not to help, but getting help from others does.

Find a body double

  • Find an accountability partner or body doubling.
  • Consider not trying to do things that are difficult for you on your own.

Body doubling means working with someone, in person or online, to stay focused and accountable while tackling tasks like organising or cleaning.

Form a community

  • Join a community to learn how to get the help you need.
  • Over time, a peer group with similar challenges can:
    • Normalise your experiences.
    • Help you find better ways to manage difficulties.
  • Be cautious, as some online communities may share extreme or unscientific advice.
