The Trust is pleased to announce that the Churchill Memorial Concerts Trust donated £1750 to the Coasters charity.
The Churchill Memorial Concerts Trust was established in 1993 and the Trust derives its main funds from the annual concert and lecture at Blenheim Palace in honour of Sir Winston Churchill. A number of other organisations have benefited from these grants, including The Blue Cross, Banbury Young Homeless Project and Oxford Carers Centre.
The Coasters Service, which is run by OBMH, aims to facilitate involvement in sport for people who are recovering from mental illness, and to promote social inclusion. Good mental health benefits from good physical health, and Coasters support people in a wide range of activities, including long distance walking, football, badminton, basketball, rock-climbing and mountain biking.
Helping people participate in a wide range of activities relies on available transport, and the Coasters service is currently raising money for a new minibus. Half of the grant money will go towards the Coasters minibus fund. Coasters aim is to raise £20,000 to replace it with an up-to-date minibus which will get the players to and from events, matches and tournaments, including regular evening sports sessions in Oxfordshire. The remaining money will go into the Coasters fund which covers the cost of the activities and the equipment.
OBMH would like to thank the Trustees of the Churchill Memorial Concerts Trust for their generous donation.
