PGCert Psychospiritual Care – details
Delivery of the course
The course has been set up so that it can be delivered either in person or online. In either case, there is a significant amount of independent study required including preparation for the study days and module assessments.
The cohort beginning September 2025 will be an in-person cohort with study days taking place in Oxford.
Course dates
The teaching input for each module will be delivered over three 2-day sessions per semester (Wednesdays and Thursdays) at Unipart House in Oxford.
For the 2025-2026 academic year, the module dates are:
- Introduction to Psychospiritual Care (CPD7060) – 15th September to 19th December 2025. Study sessions in Oxford will take place on: Wed 24th & Thu 25th Sept, Wed 22nd & Thu 23rd Oct, and Wed 19th & Thu 20th Nov.
- Practising Psychospiritual Care in Context (CPD7061) – 19th January to 15th May 2026. Study session provisional dates: Wed 28th & Thu 29th Jan, Wed 4th & Thu 5th Mar, Wed 22nd & Thu 23rd Apr (to be confirmed).
- Philosophy, Reflexivity and Creativity in Psychospiritual Care (CPD7062) – 26th May to 28th August 2026. Study session provisional dates: Wed 3rd – Thu 4th Jun, Wed 24th – Thu 25th Jun, Wed 22nd – Thu 23rd Jul (to be confirmed).
Note: final assessments will be due at the end of each module. For details see the module descriptions.
Course fees
The course fee for 2025-2026 will be £2800. Oxford Health staff can apply for funding with the support of their line manager. Discounts may also be available for those working for partner organisations in the Oxford School of Nursing and Midwifery or for registered charities.
The fee for individual modules (which must be taken in order) is £950 per module. Please note that those applying for the full course have priority in the allocation of places.
Applications
Applications for a place on the course should be made using the form below. For those applying for the full course (all three modules), applications will be considered as they arrive and places offered to qualified candidates. Once the course is full, subsequent applicants will be placed on a waiting list. Those applying for only one or two modules will be placed on the waiting list to be considered at close of applications if there are still places available.
Admission to the course is available to those who:
- Have an undergraduate degree or equivalent (level 6)
- Are prepared for study at level 7
- Have at least one year’s experience working in health or social care
- Have the support of their line manager (or a reference if self employed)
(Note: the application form is also an application for funding for Oxford Health staff. External applicants will need to arrange their own funding.)
