Cookson takes Exceptional People Award for November

Oxford Health’s Theresa Cookson was pleasantly surprised to learn that she had been selected as the November winner of the trust’s monthly Exceptional People Award.

A psychiatric liaison practitioner with our emergency department psychiatric service, Theresa has been praised by colleagues and patients alike since joining the trust in 2017.

Team members Charlotte Ball, Kezia Lange and Kathleen Kelly, who nominated her for the award, said: “Theresa is a kind and thoughtful team member, not only consistently helping out other team members and volunteering for less favourable shifts, but also always contributing to the ‘glue’ that binds the team – with humour, and wonderful cake!

“She epitomises the trust values of ‘caring’ ‘safe’ and ‘excellent’.”

Described as a team champion who always goes the extra mile, Theresa has also played a key role in a pilot programme with the team, embracing new aspects and providing consistently excellent care.

Upon hearing of her award, Theresa said: “I was incredibly shocked but I’m so humbled for this incredible achievement. I just try to give the best care I can and I’m incredibly privileged to be in a job that supports people in their most vulnerable time.”

Theresa will receive a certificate and our thanks for her valued service to the trust and its patients.

Every month we recognise and reward a member of staff that has made a real difference to the trust, our people and our patients. Nominations are welcome from staff, service users, patients, or friends and family of service users and patients. If you would like to nominate someone exceptional you can download a form here.
