The South Oxfordshire Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) works with older people over the age of 65 with functional mental health problems as well as dementia.
They also help people under 65 who have early onset dementia. The team works closely with service users and their families to support them through mental health crises and aids them in their recovery from mental ill health.
A service user who left a review on the I Want Great Care website wrote: “Everyone I’ve come into contact with have been very welcoming and kind. All the advice and treatment is excellent and I don’t see how it could be improved upon.”
Philippa Cuttell, the team manager, said: “We are so pleased about the feedback we get from patients and their families. As a team we pride ourselves on our commitment and dedication to our work. Hearing that people are happy with the service they receive really helps the team feel positive particularly in the current circumstances of COVID.
“As team manager I am so proud of the way in which all members of the team have adapted to working during the pandemic and how they have ensured our patients needs are still met safely. The team have also continued to ensure that they support one another and that we continue to be a great place to work.”
The service is made up of clinicians from a number of professional backgrounds, as well as highly experienced support workers and a dedicated administrative team.
Another reviewer felt the team were “Very caring and offered very good advice. Honest and open”. While another said that “The care could not be improved as I felt very relaxed and it helped a great deal. I think it was a very caring experience. Thank you.”
Another patient of the service along with his wife stated: “Both of us found visiting the memory clinic a very positive experience and took some of the fear away from having this diagnosis.”
