A new carers study, iACT4CRERS,  has opened in the Oxford Health Memory & Cognition Research Delivery Team.

Volunteers needed for new study for family carers of people living with dementia

Research shows that family carers of people living with dementia are at higher risk of mental health problems. Our key goal is to make our online support programme for carers, iACT4CARERS, available to family members supporting a person living with dementia across the UK. To make this happen, we first need to find out if iACT4CARERS works.

iACT4CARERS is an online programme tailored for family carers of people living with dementia. It is based on evidence-based psychotherapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. This therapy focuses on helping people to manage difficult or troubling thoughts and feelings, while still trying to do activities that really matter to them.

Participants may be eligible if they are aged 18 or over, living in England, currently providing support to a family member living with dementia, are experiencing some worries or anxiety and are willing to receive online support for this. Internet access and access to a tablet, computer, or smartphone is also needed.

For further information visit the website IACT4CARERS or Email iact4carers.study@uea.ac.uk  and please let them know you heard about their study from Oxford Health NHS FT.
