Supporting carers in general practice

The NHS Long term Plan included the ambition for granting carers greater recognition and support so that their own health and wellbeing needs will be addressed is clear.  To support this ambition NHS England has published Supporting carers in general practice: a framework of quality – a series of best-practice Quality Markers for primary care that highlight existing best practice in carer identification and  support for carers of all ages.

The Quality Markers have been designed so that they will also provide evidence for other organisations, including the Care Quality Commission (CQC), that are responsible for making sure general practices provide safe and high-quality care.
