Exceptional People Awards: Nominate our staff who go above and beyond

Oxford Health is appealing to patients, service users, carers, friends and family to nominate a terrific team or a special someone worthy of recognition for the work they carry out either on our wards and or out in the communities we serve.

Whether they’re a health visitor, district nurse, vaccinator, therapist, receptionist, porter, support worker or a team of mental health specialists working with adults or young people, let us know if you feel they have gone above and beyond to offer incredible care and support.

Our teams who serve a population of two million across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset, strive to always uphold the organisation’s values of being caring, safe and excellent.

Oxford Health’s vision is to deliver outstanding care by an outstanding team.

The new monthly Exceptional People Awards for 2021 serve to recognise that care and excellence and at the same time support a culture that celebrates Our People and our NHS organisation as a being a great place to work and thrive.

Nomination forms and rules are available on our Exceptional People Awards website.

The first round of awards will take place this month, so please make your nomination by September 17.

Nominate a team

You can nominate any Oxford Health team for the Exceptional People team Award. The nominations will be judged monthly by a panel from the Trust’s executive team, led by Trust Chair David Walker and CEO Dr Nick Broughton.

Nominations will need to showcase how the team’s work or achievement supports the Trust values and/or strategic objectives, with a focus on patient and care outcomes.

The judges will score the nominations against how they:

  • embody the Trust vision of Outstanding Care by an Outstanding Team
  • embody the Trust values of Caring, Safe and Excellent
  • support the Trust mission to be the Best Trust of our kind in the country
  • support the Trust strategic objectives to deliver the best possible care and health outcomes; be a great place to work; make the best use of our resources and protect the environment; and become a leader in healthcare research and education.

The winning team will receive a £100 voucher, an engraved glass trophy and a certificate.

You can nominate any member of staff, regardless of their role, for the Exceptional People Award for individuals.

  • has made a significant difference to patient experience or has made a significant difference to the working/performance of a team.

The chosen winner, endorsed by Director of Corporate Affairs, Kerry Rogers, will receive an engraved glass trophy, a framed signed certificate and a £50 voucher.

Lead governor Mike Hobbs said:

“I am delighted that the Exceptional People Award is now relaunching. My fellow Governors in the judging panel and I are looking forward to receiving nominations and seeing more closely the excellent work people in the Oxford Health family are doing. So please nominate someone who has made a real difference to you, or someone you know to be exceptional in what they do. We know there are many exceptional people in this Trust, and this is one important way to recognise their commitment and contribution.

“I would like to take this opportunity also to say thank you to my fellow Governor Maddy Radburn, who for many years co-ordinated the judging of these valuable awards. She has made an exceptional contribution too.”

“Exceptional People Awards is a much-loved scheme by which the Trust has celebrated our people for over 10 years. After a pause during the Covid pandemic, we are relaunching. We want to celebrate excellence and value those teams and individuals who go over and above. I am also pleased to welcome our new Governor judging panel Mike, Anna, Nyarai, Jacky and Jonathan. I’m confident you will enjoy helping create a culture where everyone feels valued.”
