Mosaic creates sunshine all round

A bright and brand-new artwork is bringing a ray or two of sun to the garden at Didcot Community Hospital.

Mosaic creates sunshine all round

The solar-themed two-foot mosaic is now bringing smiles all round to patients and staff. It was delivered through Oxford Health’s award-winning Creating with Care programme and funded by the League of Friends to bring the sun to the garden all year round.

Both patients and staff have been involved in the making of the mosaic and all enjoyed the process which has helped with overall wellbeing and relaxation.

The creation of the mosaic was supported by artist Becky Paton who also helped put together a further memorial mosaic in 2020. Becky now has the complete structure which consists of a centre piece and 40 sunbeams to grout before it goes up on the wall in the garden at the end of July.

Emma Leaver, service director, said: “This is such a wonderful project and has been an inspiring way to get both patients and staff to be creative. I want to express a huge thanks to Becky for being involved and helping create such a beautiful piece for everyone at Didcot Hospital to enjoy.

“It is such a great addition to the garden and people will be able to enjoy it for many more years to come.”
