Rehabilitative and supportive care results in five stars for Didcot ward

The team at Didcot Community Hospital provide rehabilitation and palliative care for service users who no longer need the facilities of an acute hospital but require greater support than currently can be provided in their homes.

The team comprises a dedicated team of nurses, healthcare assistants, rehab assistants, occupational therapists and physiotherapists who work closely together with social services and are supported by a medical team. They also are supported by a wonderful admin team.

There is also a hard working domestic team who they have helped to maintain a clean and tidy environment during this Covid-19 period.

Natalie Beal, ward manager, said: “We are so proud of our teams ongoing professionalism and dedication to the patients they care for! They are hardworking, caring and strive to uphold the Trust values in all they do!!”

One patient who left a review said: “The nurses looked after me really well, at times it didn’t feel like I was in hospital. I really enjoyed the fact that we could eat lunch in the day room with the other patients.”

A further patient said: “Everyone was thoughtful, kind and considerate, I couldn’t fault the care and staff.”

While another said: “I received attention and respect and the knowledge of the staff is fantastic.”

I final reviewer summed up there stay by saying: “I was always treated with respect and kindness. I was very happy here. I really enjoyed the food, and the staff were really nice.”
