Co-Commissioning in Thames Valley

The Health Service Journal has revealed – as part of an Exclusive news item – that

• Every CCG in Thames Valley has submitted proposals to NHS England to undertake joint commissioning of primary care from April 2015. This means that a CCG (or group of CCGs) will form a committee with their NHS England area team to jointly make decisions about GP services.
• 77 CCGs (37% total CCGS in the country) are proposing to take on full delegated commissioning

As background there are 3 levels for which CCGs could apply  – delegated commissioning (which includes managing complaints about practices and GPs), Co-commissioning and Greater involvement.
