Helping people live with frailty
Based on the latest research into frailty, there could be almost 5 million people aged 65 and over living with frailty in England (8-9% of the total population). Whilst the majority of these older people are likely to have mild frailty, almost 1.5 million could be considered to have moderate frailty (1.2 million) or severe frailty (0.3 million) and, as the population continues to age, this number is expected to increase.
Fusion48 has published a Frailty toolkit and a Virtual Reality simulation to develop the new roles, skills and ways of working within the health and care sector to support older people living with frailty to remain as independent and active as possible.
