General Practice Fellowship programme and Mentor Scheme

NHS England have published their Operational Guidance 2020/21 for their General Practice Fellowships for GPs and Nurses New to Practice Programme.

The General Practice Fellowship programme is a programme of support, learning and development for newly-qualified GPs and nurses working in general practice, including those working less than full time. It is supported by national funding for system-led implementation, and with delivery and oversight through training hubs or other locally agreed provider.

Alongside this the Supporting Mentors Scheme will enable systems and their PCNs to upskill their experienced GPs and provide a portfolio working opportunity. GPs on the scheme will be provided with funded training, leading to a recognised mentoring qualification.
