Oxford Health Library membership provides access to a wealth of knowledge and information services delivered by skilled library staff….

Complete the details below and click submit. Library staff will add your details to SWIMS. You will be provided with a SWIMS Library Card for use when borrowing books and accessing key library services.

Library Charter for Students on Placement in OHFT

Your main library for the duration of your course is your university library, which will provide full services, including loans, inter-library loans, access to course reading materials and electronic resources, information skills training and use of all facilities. You will be able to access electronic resources remotely.
However, whilst you are on placement, you may also use OHFT libraries!

OHFT libraries will provide you with the following during your time on placement:

Access 24/7 with Trust access card. Staffed hours (see library website for staffed hours)
Loan and reference facilities (note that books that you borrow must be returned to the library that lent them)
Access to NHS library computers (or local wi-fi)
Access to University linked computers
Access to additional NHS core electronic resources. You’ll need an NHS OpenAthens account: your university may issue you with one, or you can self-register at OpenAthens
Eligibility for an additional ‘local’ NHS OpenAthens Account to access OHFT specialist resources – including mental health e books & Journals
Photocopying and printing(for which there is a charge)
Tailored library induction

They will refer you to your university library for:

Books and articles that need to be requested from other libraries
Training in the use of electronic resources
In depth enquiries, mediated literature searching and current awareness services

NHS libraries are managed by professional librarians and meet national quality standards. NHS library staff will endeavour to work with university librarians, supervisors and tutors to ensure that your needs are met

We are committed to safeguarding your information. The information you supply will be used to contact you about services or resources you have requested from the Library and Knowledge Service (LKS).

Sharing your personal information

We will share your information with the organisations that supply and manage our library management systems. We may share your information with another LKS team if you move organisations (you will receive an email notification if this happens).

You may request access to the information we hold about you and request changes by emailing

Deleting your personal information

We will delete the data we hold on you after a maximum 5-year period of inactivity (in case you return to use NHS library and knowledge services again within this time).
