Support for carers

As friends or relatives, you are invited to join individuals attending for assessment, to provide a broader perspective on the difficulties experienced at home.

Where appropriate a carer assessment will be undertaken. Information is provided for you to help you to support someone with an eating disorder and when appropriate you may be invited to join sessions of psychological therapy with the individual.

When individuals are transferred to our team from Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) at least 2 appointments are offered to parents/carers to introduce you to how adult eating disorders services work. We encourage individuals to involve you as parents / carers in their treatment, while respecting confidentiality.
